About Me

Hi!  My name is Mike Pizzi.  Already confused?  Don’t be!  My stage name is Mike Solo!

Originally from the South Shore of Massachusetts (Go Red Sox, Pats, Celts & Bruins!), I was raised in a loving and supportive Italian family.  My musical background was inspired and nurtured by my mother, Emma, who ~ it seems ~ must have taught piano to at least one member of every family in the town of Weymouth, MA during her 50+ year teaching career!  I still carry the musical torch she passed to me.  Thanks, Mom!

Through the years, I’ve been in some great bands with some excellent musicians.  The most notable of these bands were The Nomads, Stone Column, Simplicity, Triad, Caravan, Breakaway and Back 2 Back.  Some of the most influential musicians in these bands were Jess Leary and Gia Langone (RIP) of Triad and Caravan, Mike Farrell of Stone Column and Caravan, Bobby O’Donnell and Glen Moran of The Nomads, John Proietti of Stone Column, Breakaway and Back 2 Back and Dave Angellis of Stone Column.  Thanks to these performers, I'm the musician I am today.

I studied performance and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston and have been performing in melodic pop / rock bands for many years.  During this time, I have either shared the stage with or opened for the following national acts:
The Chambers Brothers, Hall & Oats, Joe Perry of Aerosmith (The Joe Perry Project), Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels, Lenny Baker of ShaNaNa, Jonathan Edwards, the Pousette-Dart Band, Jess Leary – a multi #1 hit songwriter,  New England and The Fools – to name a few.

My all time favorite local band to go see was the Dead End Kids featuring two former bandmates, Bobby O’Donnell and Glen Moran.  This was one rockin’ band!

In 2002, I relocated to the west coast of Florida.  Currently, I am performing 'solo', writing music and performing in the Still Rockin band.

Peace,
Mike 'Solo' Pizzi
